Cape Byron Kayaks was Byron Bays first Dolphin Kayak Tour and nearly 30 years later we are still out on the water operating under the philosophy of âtake only memories, leave not even footprintsâ.
Our mission is a commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism. We believe that exploring the world shouldnât come at the expense of its health. Thatâs why we have integrated eco-friendly practices into every aspect of our kayaking tours, ensuring that our operations have a minimal impact on the environment.
Our tours are designed to immerse you in the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Byron Bay. We aim to educate and inspire, promoting a deeper connection to the ocean and the natural world.
Our sustainable practices
Our beach office is run 100% from solar power. The radios are charged here, the phones, the computer, the eftpos machine, everything is powered by the sun with a battery management system in place for optimum performance.
We no longer run any vehicles as most accommodation is less than 1km walk away and bicycles are also available for hire in town. Most of our staff live locally and walk or cycle to work. There are also public transport options in Byron and parking near the kayaks.
Our tours are by their very nature eco-friendly, being non motorised crafts powered by you the guests.
We have a council tap at the start of our track for filling up your reusable water bottles so donât forget to bring one along.
If you are joining a tour, we would recommend applying sunscreen 30 mins in advance and where possible choosing an ocean friendly brand.

Where possible we source our products locally with the majority of our purchasing coming from within a 100km radius.
Community Engagement
We believe in giving back to the community that hosts us. We support local conservation efforts, educational projects, local schools and sporting events. We also encourage our guests to participate in beach clean â ups, dolphin watch citizen science program, and other volunteer opportunities during their stay.
